Last Saturday Cari, Julia, and I trekked out to Sauvie Island (one of my absolute favorite places to go to in Portland) to engage in the drinking of hot apple cider, stuff our faces with candied apples, and share tales of how much we love Portland (we all JUST moved here about the same time!) while sitting on hay bales around a bonfire.
When we arrived… the farms were all closed. The bonfire gone. The haystacks non existent. The stands where hot apple cider and rows of shiny candied fruits…CLOSED FOR THE SEASON.
Woe was us! (I know champagne problems) However, we made the best of it, because Sauvie Island is just too beautiful, you don’t even need all that extra stuff. We walked around the grounds of the Bisbee Howell house (I want to LIVE in this house, you have NO IDEA. And it’s EMPTY. I could just MOVE in like tomorrow), ooohed and ahhhed over all the fall foliage, the scenic landscape, the cows along the side of the road.
If you’re visiting Portland, please visit Sauvie. Or actually, don’t visit, I want to keep it all to myselffff. Forget you read this post! *poof* Your memory just got erased! *waves hand* This is NOT the island you’re looking for. *raises stick* You shall not pass.
Just kidding. But did you like my Star Wars and LOTR references?
