A Short Spell Inside the Adored Vintage Atelier

Adored Vintage | Vintage Work Atelier in Portland, Oregon

Bonjour mes amies! I have been moving the studio around again (I tend to do this quite often) and I really like the new set up. It’s been so lovely to get back into the swing of things after a pretty awful July (it is my least favorite month, so many annoying things always happen to me in July!) Anyhow, I’m back on track on focusing on positive, happy, and beautiful things!

I love that my work studio has started to feel more like home. Of course, there is much more to be done…however, all in due time!

A Work In Progress

Adored Vintage | A Short Visit

There’s something so satisfying about hanging shelves up on the walls! This past Friday we finally added shelves above our shipping station in the studio. It makes a world of difference!

I am realizing the studio is going to be a work in progress and as we settle in even more in this light filled space, it’s starting to feel more and more like a home away from home.

We still have a bunch of ideas we want to do for the studio, but I am enjoying documenting the different stages the Adored Vintage atelier is going through!

A Quick Visit

Adored Vintage moved into the new work studio back in mid October and it feels both like yesterday and also years ago. At first I wanted everything to be quite minimal… However, the truth eventually surfaced. (That I’m a HOARDER!!)

adoredvintage-studiotour-1

I have way too much vintage inventory to ever truly be a minimalist. Unless I had a really giant warehouse, but it would prove most inconvenient to go from one end to the other. I just can’t do it for the sake of cool minimalist interior posts on Instagram!

Honestly, it is MUCH easier to fake minimalism than it is to actually be a minimalist. As my friend Chris would say “GIRL, T–r-u-s-t!

This week we started to bring the remaining (i.e. MOST) of the inventory from my house to the studio. And as much as I have loved a somewhat minimalist office, the time has come… to just let it be. Let it be pretty. Let it be messy. Let it be bursting with antique and vintage clothing!

And so…I welcome you to give the studio a little glance…

This is the for reals reals studio tour where I didn’t clean a damn thing. Style a tabletop photo. Or sort clothes in eye soothing color schemes.

Ignore the small piles of messy. It’s all pretty anyway. Pretend like you don’t see the ugly electric wires and the mismatched hangers… because despite my attempts at buying out IKEA of all of their wooden hangers, I just never seem to have enough.

And now you see, what most of the studio looks like MOST of the time. I know I will share more photos later! I hope you enjoyed the quick little visit to Adored Vintage HQ in Portland!

Welcome to Adored Vintage HQ

We confess!! We’ve gotten so lazy since Instagram and I-phones. I remember when I use to take pictures with a real camera and edit them and create collages in Photoshop to share on our blog.

I miss the days of beautiful large photos and story telling through series of images. But today, you ain’t getting that! You’re getting i-phone pics of the Adored Vintage Atelier via our phone cameras and VSCO filters!

Our studio is in the NW industrial area of Portland and we literally are right next to the St. John’s bridge (which is my favorite bridge possibly in all the world).

The building use to be the Portland Woolen Mills building but has gone through several owners since then and several renovations. LUCKILY, our studio is one of a few units that retains it’s original look and character! Most of the spaces are big blank white boxes.

No French mint green beams! No exposed brick! No 10ft arched windows!

The studio is a dream to be in. It’s really everything I’ve always dreamt of. Sometimes I have to pinch myself that this is where we get to work!

A Studio Visit With Little Byrd Vintage

Little Byrd Vintage Studio Visit

It’s nearing that certain time of the month where I’m more emotional than usual (ahem, ahem…sorry TMI! I know!) and I just really wanted to start this blog post off by saying the past couple of weeks I have been lucky enough to be graced with the presence of so many women that have become so very dear to me.

And with that, may I introduce to you and welcome you to my lovely friend Rebekah’s studio for her vintage home wares shop Little Byrd Vintage in Portland.

Rebekah and I have been following each other on Instagram for a little while now and when I moved to Portland we finally met up over coffee and I promise every single time we meet up time just flies away and we just chitter chatter over the nuances of life for hours. I adore Rebekah, she is the sort of person where you instantly feel comfortable in her presence. I’m not sure if she’ll like this comparison, but she’s one of my friends I think of as warm cups of tea. Pleasant, warm, never rushed, and just lovely. Like “Ahhh hello, let’s sit awhile, let’s chat.”

Everyone should have warm tea friends. I sure hope you have one, or some, or a lot!

So, last week I got to visit Little Byrd Vintage’s home studio and it was all I imagined it would be! Also, Rebekah had set out homemade goodies she baked which I didn’t really get a photo of because I just wanted to get to the “shovel this into my mouth” part.

I snapped a few photos around her home too, but I didn’t want to be too invasive and creepy LOL. Like “GIRL, let me take a picture of ERYTHANG!

So I mostly snapped photos of her studio which is painted the prettiest shades of grey and neutrals. And I basically could not even hold a conversation as I looked at ALL THE PRETTY THINGS. The little painted scene with twig frames? Just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. And don’t get me started on the pressed flowers and those baskets of yarn. Ahhh. I’m pretty sure I drooled a bit on the floor.

Eeeep and also Rebekah sent me home with a giant flower press!! It took me a lot of effort not to just shoot out of my chair and go “WEEEEEEEEEEeeeee” like Liesl in The Sound of Music when Rolfe kisses her.
